Private House – Bigbury-on-Sea, South Devon

We recently had the privilege to work in one of Devon's most stunning locations, Bigbury-on -Sea. Our client purchased a beautiful 1930's dormer-bungalow over looking Burgh Island and wanted to create a relaxed home for themselves & family. They were very clear from the outset that it was important to maintain the character and as many of the original features as possible, whilst remodelling to allow slightly more internal space. Working very closely with them we designed the interior using a range of stunning fabrics, new & antique pieces of furniture along with complimentary light fittings, again new & old. A nod to the 1930's era was maintained throughout, William Morris fabrics seemed very fitting for the interior, along with some subtle coastal stripes. The original oak doors were retained and formed the basis for many of the joinery elements in the house. The result provides a charming interior full of character with a real sense of calm, somewhere to relax, unwind and admire the view.
