• Coleton Fishacre cafe

On the D'Oyly Carte family estate and close to their Jazz Age inspired home, is a cafe for the visitors to Coleton Fishacre. The cafe is a modern building with very little to link it to the main property. We wanted to give the space the Art Deco feel it warranted but with planning restrictions, it was going to be a challenge. With help from the National Trust team we searched their archives for images to give the space a nod to the '20's and came up trumps with Gilbert and Sullivan programmes and stunning shots of the Savoy Hotel which the family used to own. We then sourced a fab vintage radio, Lloyd Loom furniture in Deco inspired Tarragon colours and Kentia Palms to suggest a 1920's garden room. Low hanging ceiling fans and chrome space age salt and pepper pots complete the look. The cafe now links to the property, and visitors can tap in to that Jazz Age feeling as soon as they enter.
